Cutter offset on Graphtec Plotters

Info. & Technical
SETTING CUTTER OFFSET  ON GRAPHTEC PLOTTERS

On most plotters cutter offset is set as a distance in millimetres.
Graphtec do it differently.

On Graphtec plotters the offset compensation is in the TOOL setting.

All you need to do is to set the TOOL setting to the part number of the blade type you are using.
The machine is pre-programmed with the correct setting for each blade type and will set itself accordingly.

What Graphtec describe as offset is really only for fine adjustment so unless you are doing something unusual and need to fine tune the offset you would normally leave this at zero.

On Graphtec plotters fine tuning offset is rarely necessary.
MOST COMMON SETTING

When using the most commonly used blade or Smart Knife you would set

TOOL to 09U This sets the cutter offset for that blade type.

OFFSET to 0 [Zero] -Unless you wish to make fine adjustments.
LESS COMMON SETTINGS

There are other types of blade or Smart Knife you might use for cutting unusual materials and these would need you to set your machine to suit them.

You set TOOL setting to the part number of the blade type.
(usually CB15)

Leave OFFSET at 0 [Zero] - Unless you wish to make fine adjustments.
OTHER OPTIONS

On some Graphtec models in the list of blade part numbers you might find OTHER.
It is simply another way to set the machine without using blade part numbers.
It is of no benefit to most Graphtec users.
If you are curious and want to understand it - call us - or read the manual!
When trawling through menus you may see settings for
OFFSET ANGLE and OFFSET FORCE.

THEY ARE NOT RELATED TO CUTTER OFFSET
THEY ARE FOR ENGINEERS ONLY.
DO NOT ADJUST THEM.
